We had a fabulous two weeks in June in the house and loved it! The house is very comfortable with good privacy for the bedrooms. We spent most of our time on the porch with beautiful views overlooking the valley and all the way to Gibraltar. While we took many day trips we also enjoyed the time we spent staying around Gaucin. The portion of our group who were athletically inclined hiked up El Hacho mountain on the edge of the village. There are many other walkable trails from the house. The cuisine for a small town was outstanding. We dined at different restaurants every night each of which was fabulous. All in all we had a wonderful time and the house was perfect for our vacation. Highly highly recommend!

This was our first visit to the area and we weren’t sure what to expect. We needn’t have worried! The house is spacious, peaceful, secluded and set in stunning surroundings with unbelievable views. The accommodation is well thought-out and comfortable. It was very special to be secluded and not overlooked by other properties at the same as being within walking distance of shops, bars and restaurants in the village. Not sure what else to say really.....we would definitely come again!

Our group of six adults had the pleasure of renting Mark and Star's home for a one week stay in May 2019. The view from the villa is breathtaking and the village is simply charming - although a bit tough to navigate by car. We learned to navigate on foot and left our car at the edge of town (very short walk to/from villa). Take the time to trek up to the castle and enjoy the view. Day trips to nearby towns were also a highlight. As was tapas/happy hour in the village! This is a perfect spot to unwind for a week. The pool was a treat given the heat the week we were there! Thanks Mark and Star!

Wow. Stayed in Mark and Star's wonderful hillside oasis in August 2017, it was an amazing holiday experience. We were two couples and 3 teenagers. The property was more than big enough for us all, big comfortable rooms, great facilities etc. Outside the terraces, the garden, the views and the pool were just wonderful. At times it just takes your breath away, looking across mountains, the valley, out to Africa, sitting by or lazing about in a brilliant pool. The scenery was made all the more amazing coupled with sounds of the odd goat or horse and with the flight of some graceful and inspiring 'vultures'...yes who knew vultures were graceful! The town is small and quiet, though there are plenty of places to eat, buy groceries etc. The standard of cooking in several local restaurants was as good as you will find anywhere and the service matched, attentive, personal and original. A short week felt (in a very good way) like a much longer recharge, as you just take time and calm to the pace of warm mountain living. Of course every now and again we just went a little crazy in the pool, diving through rings, playing Marco Polo and having the underwater Olympic challenges....that's what teenage boys and Dads need. From the first time I contacted the owners till the minute we had finished are holiday (and beyond actually, thanks Mark) the owners were fantastic. Couldn't praise this place more highly. Thank you for a stay we will always remember.
