The apartment is on the 4th Floor of a small block built in 2002, in an excellent location close to Calpes famous Rock - the Penon de Ifach, between Playa Levante (around 300 metres) and Playa Arenal (a 5 minute walk, partly along the promenade). Even closer is Playa Cantal Roig - a small sandy beach next to the marina, from where you can take boat trips all along the coast. So you really are spoilt for choice when it comes to beaches. It is a very pleasant 15 minute walk into town along the promenade of Playa Arenal.

The lounge is a good size, with a sideboard providing additional storage space. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need and the washing machine is sited on another small balcony accessed from the kitchen.

The bedroom has a large double fitted wardrobe, plus small side tables and dressing table providing additional storage space. Duvets and blankets are provided for the cooler months. There is an additional portable radiator if required for the winter season.

Leading from both the bedroom and living room - via large patio doors - is a spacious balcony from which you have a side view of the harbour entrance and across to Las Salinas. Furnished with a table and chairs, it enables you to dine al fresco.

The communal pool has a shallow end perfect for the children. There is a lift providing wheelchair access. Parking is available on the road immediately outside the back gate and on the large adjacent free public car park.

Within 2 – 15 minutes walking distance there are numerous restaurants catering for every need at exceptionally attractive prices. The cuisine available is international and, besides Spanish, includes Indian, Chinese, Japanese and Italian. People travel from miles around to sample the famous fish restaurants in the marina where the “catch of the day” is displayed to tempt your palate - and this is literally on your doorstep - all you have to do is cross a road and walk down some steps.

Once settled into the accommodation a car is not a necessity; your everyday requirements are close to hand and there is easy access to public transport with which to explore further afield whether by bus or by train.

The pool was really quiet and 99% of the time we were the only people using it so could really enjoy ourselves. The village itself is beautiful and whilst a car is not essential, we hired a car and travelled around visiting Moiraira - really really nice, Benidorm, Altea, Valencia etc. I would definitely recommend this apartment to others ... a lovely, uncomplicated, and relaxing holiday in a really Spanish and friendly location".

Calpe / Calpe Port area
Calpe is situated between Valencia (133 km) and Alicante (81 km) on the Costa Blanca (White Coast), an area rich in history and famed for its scenery, temperate climate and the quality of its beaches. It remains generally unspoilt with beautiful fertile valleys, pretty fishing villages and historic towns. There are 13 km of coastline with beaches and coves, ideal for bathing and sports.

Calpe itself is an ancient fishing village, overlooked by the Penon de Ifach (Calpe’s ‘Rock’), which rises from the sea and towers over the port and marina. At 332m high, it is a symbol of the Costa Blanca and dominates this coastline. In 1987 it was declared a Nature Reserve because of its rich wildlife. If you are feeling fit you can climb to the top via a footpath which starts from the information centre. There is also a walk around the base of the rock. Another Nature Reserve, behind the coastal strip, is ‘Las Salinas’ – a salt lake which attracts flamingos and other wildlife.

There are two fine white sandy “Blue Flag” beaches, which sit either side of the Penon. Playa Levante is situated to the left of the rock, just off the Moraira coast road, whilst Playa Arenal is the town beach. Backing both beaches are wide promenades where one can stroll and enjoy the colourful shops, bars and restaurants.

Calpe remains a working Spanish town so you can still get a taste of the real Spain whilst enjoying the tourist amenities. The commercial centre offers great shopping and an abundance of restaurants and bars. Calpe’s shops sell everything from perfume to furniture. There are also several large supermarkets on the outskirts of town and multi-national hypermarkets a short drive away. There is a Saturday morning market every week throughout the year in the old town.

All types of nightlife are provided in town, from small ‘Tapas’ bars to ten pin bowling to late night clubs. Also recommended is a visit to the picturesque “old town” which has a character and charm all of its own with traditional winding streets, cosy bars and fine restaurants. Hemingway loved Calpe town and spent his summers there during the thirties.

Numerous fiestas take place throughout the year; the most famous being that of the Moors and Christians held in October – a celebration of colourful swaying processions recalling the famous fight for sovereignty. There are spectacular firework displays in the evening and the repelling of the Moors takes place on Playa Arenal the next day.

Calpe has its own tennis club and within driving distance there are 9 and 18 hole golf courses (the best being Golf Club de la Sella which is located near Denia and designed by Jose Maria Olazabal), tennis and squash courts, diving centres, go-karts and many other facilities.

Families can enjoy a great day out at

• Beaches in Altea, Benidorm, Moraira, Javea and Denia
• Terra Mitica theme park (the first true theme park in Spain, designed to reflect the history of the Mediterranean with 5 subdivisions each representing a different lost civilisation, the myths and legends inspiring the roller coaster rides, animatronix and state of the art digital imagery)
• Mundomar Aquarium
• Aqualandia Water Park (Europe’s largest water park)

all of which are on the bus and train routes.

Inland, Guadalest is an old fortified town famous for lace and well worth a visit. Built by the Moors some 1200 years ago, it was never conquered. The castle is perched on a craggy mountain outcrop and although much of the village was destroyed by an earthquake the steep climb to the castle is rewarded with breathtaking views.

The Jalon Valley is famous for olive and vine growing, and there are many bodegas and markets where you can sample the local produce.

Take the coast road behind Playa Levante to see stunning vistas on the way to Moraira, a smart little town with another lovely marina.

There are also boat trips from Calpe port, which take you to Altea, Javea, Benidorm and Denia. From the Port of Denia the more adventurous can take the hydrofoil across to the islands of Ibiza and Mallorca.

Calpe is an ideal location for a break at any time of the year. The winter months are usually still warm and many people escape the cold of northern Europe by spending several months here.

• Prices may be subject to change at the owners discretion. These rates were calculated @ 1.15 € / £1.00, and will not take account of currency fluctuations.
• Payment can be made by cheque or bank transfer in GBP or Euros. NB: Clients are required to cover any bank charges incurred for a foreign transfer.
• Prices are per week + a £100 refundable deposit for breakages - returned on return of keys (and subject to satisfactory property inspection).
• A 25% deposit is required to reserve the apartment, with the balance payable 8 weeks before the holiday commences.
• Weekly prices include initial charges for Cleaning, Linen/towels - paid in Euros direct to the Spanish agents (based on 2 people sharing). There is a reduction for 2+ weeks - prices on request.
• 3rd and 4th person - the apartment can accommodate a maximum of 4 and there is an additional charge of £20 per person per week + 10 € for additional linen (payable locally).
• Minimum let is 1 week from June - September. Outside this period, minimum let is 3 or 4 nights.
• On Lets under a week, please ask for a quote.
• Please enquire about long lets.
• Hire of cot for baby (subject to availability): approx 4.28€ per day - payable locally and booked in advance.
• Full booking conditions are provided on application.
• From June to September, the usual changeover day is Saturday (check-in time 17.00 hrs/check-out 10.00 hrs).
• Outside of these months is negotiable and also part-weeks.
• Air Conditioning/Heating is available at a supplement - please enquire. (There are ceiling fans in both the lounge and bedroom.)
• Beach towels are not provided.
• There is a locked cupboard in the entrance hall, which is not accessible to guests.
• Spanish Agents are located on the ground floor - to report any faults etc.
